LOOKING BACK

El Cajon's history dates back to the ingenious Kumeyaay people. In the 18th century, the Spanish left a significant impact on our region's history by building a series of missionaries that included the San Diego Mission (1769).

El Cajon's development accelerated with the arrival of the railroad in the late 19th century. This transportation innovation led to the growth of the region's citrus farming.

In the 20th century, El Cajon went through periods of urbanization and economic growth. The tools of the new industrial revolution expanded the region's infrastructure to meet the needs of a growing community.

GOING FORWARD

San Diego 4.0 is honored to continue El Cajon's journey into our next industrial revolution. As we repeat history, El Cajon will receive a new set of tools to move forward.
